One of K-12 public education’s core purposes is to prepare young people to be informed and engaged citizens in our democracy. Recent events and phenomena, including the January 6th insurrection, the rise of fake news, and toxicity in political discourse, have made this all the more necessary. Additionally, many of our young people are eager today to play a positive and constructive role in their communities and our democracy. The Educating for American Democracy initiative which has been championed by the National Association of Elementary School Principals, Association for Middle Level Educators, and the National Association of Secondary School Principals provides a tangible Roadmap to achieve K-12 education’s civic aspirations.

Join us in this collaborative webinar as leadership across these associations and leading members discuss actions school leaders can take to leverage this initiative in supporting a more robust and powerful civic and history education for all learners.
