The Successful Middle School: This We Believe Book Study for Early Career Educators

Tuesday, January 30, 2024 - Tuesday, February 20, 2024   iCalendar

AMLE student members, early career members, and university faculty are invited to join us for our annual book study of AMLE’s foundational text, The Successful Middle School: This We Believe. Explore the unique developmental nature of middle school students and the implications for teaching, classroom management, and school structures and practices through an engaging, interactive virtual format in a series of four sessions. In addition to exploring what research says, we'll analyze the practices of real schools to explore how these characteristics impact real students and staff. The facilitator will also make use of documentary footage from a year in a real middle school to help bring concepts discussed to life.

Participants will earn the Successful Middle School Ready digital badge at the conclusion of the study. Registration is free for members who already have a copy of The Successful Middle School: This We Believe. Those who do not already have a copy of the book will receive a copy with their registration fee. Sessions will be conducted via Zoom and recorded for those unable to participate live.
